ISTA has changed the formula used to determine test time for the ISTA 3E Test Procedure. There used to be a chart within the test procedure that based the time on the vibration table loosely upon number of transport miles traveled.

That has been replaced by a formula that takes the total number of ground transport miles and divides that by 5 and the result is the total number of minutes on the vibration table.

Example:  Using the old procedure, the total time on the vibration table for a package that traveled 1500 miles was 2.5 hours. Using the new formula, the total test time would be 300 minutes or 5 hours. This change of course means a change to the pricing structure of the ISTA 3E as well.
